Mother’s Day is just a few days away! We’re preparing the shop for what we expect will be a very busy day. Here are ten unique Midcoast-centered ideas for making this Mother’s Day in Brunswick, Maine, a memorable one.
1. An early-morning morning hike. Is your mom a morning person? Stop by The Gelato Fiasco on Saturday to pick up a bag of Wicked Joe Coffee. (As a Red Spoon Society member, you always get 10 percent off.) Prepare a fresh brew on Sunday morning and take a hike to the ocean at the Morse Mountain Conservation Area in Phippsburg.
2. Serve gelato in bed. Gelato is a perfect treat anytime of day. Pick up pints of gelato from our Brunswick shop or from a partner store. Serve it with breakfast or by itself!
3. Check out “The Soloist.” The Eveningstar Cinema on Maine Street in Brunswick will offer four daily showings of this film. After the movie, come see us, enjoy some gelato, and talk about the film with your mom.
4. Game night with a twist. Bring a board game to The Gelato Fiasco — or use the ones we provide — and have some family fun over gelato and tea.
5. Bike along the river. If it’s a nice day, ride or walk along Androscoggin River Path. Your destination? You guessed it. The Water Street parking lot is a short walk to The Gelato Fiasco.
6. A fantastic dinner and the best dessert. Make reservations at Walter’s in Portland. Following your great meal, you can order The Gelato Fiasco off the dessert menu. We’re offered daily.
7. Color it. OK, Dads. Got little kids? Have them draw portraits for mom and hide a drawing of a red spoon in each one. Then they can challenge Mom to figure out where the family is going for Mother’s Day dessert!
8. A pre-lunch warm-up. Mix things up. We open at 11 a.m. — perfect for a pre-lunch appetizer. Have a gelato or sorbetto treat, then go next door for famous sandwiches from Big Top.
9. Try the Tasting Board. Ask your Service Wizard how you and Mom can fully enjoy six flavors in one sitting. It’s our Tasting Board, and it’s perfect for a special event like Mother’s Day.
10. Design your own Gelato Fiasco experience. We built this company on the premise that gelato isn’t any typical dessert. It’s an art meant to be discovered. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. — enough time for you to plan your own special day and start it or top it with gelato. So create your own perfect plans that tell mom: Thanks for being you!
