Gelato Fiasco hires chief operating officer, director of perfection, office manager, and catering manager
New team members will support Gelato Fiasco’s national grocery growth

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Gelato Fiasco today announced the hiring of four new members of the management team at its Flavor Foundry and main office in Brunswick. These are in addition to the new hires announced in January.

“I’m thrilled that we’re adding all these knowledgeable, experienced, and genuinely kind people to our team,” said Joshua Davis, CEO and co-founder. “My philosophy is to hire slowly and thoughtfully, with the mission of finding people who I think will help us with our mission of producing and distributing the world’s most indulgent flavors of gelato and sorbetto with flawless operational consistency.”

Most of the team members will be focused on Gelato Fiasco’s grocery store pints, which are made in Brunswick and sold in more than 5,000 grocery stores across the United States. Gelato Fiasco is the fastest-growing brand of gelato pints in grocery stores, according to industry data.

The new team members are:

Alexander Hnizdor

Alexander Hnizdor has joined Gelato Fiasco as chief operating officer. He will be responsible for leading overall supply chain operations including manufacturing, strategy, and processes at Gelato Fiasco’s Flavor Foundry in Brunswick.

Hnizdor’s expertise includes overseeing manufacturing operations, leading strategic partner relationships, and executing capital investments to support overall business growth. Hnizdor was most recently director of manufacturing at Farmhouse Culture, a California-based producer of fermented foods and beverages.

At Gelato Fiasco, Hnizdor will take on challenges similar to those faced during his time at Farmhouse Culture.

“In building a disruptive brand you’re likely to face the intricacies of scaling,” said Hnizdor. “Gelato Fiasco has a tremendous story and product. I’m looking forward to continuing that story by helping take the infrastructure, operations, and overall supply chain to the next level.”

Hnizdor holds a degree from the University of South Carolina at Columbia and has relocated from California to Cape Elizabeth with his wife and two dogs.

Olivia Conrad

Olivia Conrad has joined Gelato Fiasco as the director of perfection. She will be responsible for maintaining and developing rigorous product quality standards and processes at the company’s Flavor Foundry in Brunswick. Conrad will also work on new product development for Gelato Fiasco’s national pint distribution.

Conrad is a recent graduate of the University of Maine, where she earned a degree in food science. While at the University of Maine, she was a member of several honors societies and completed research on food waste and the commercial viability of Maine maple sap as a functional beverage. She is Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) certified for several food categories. Conrad was previously a summer quality assurance intern at Schlotterbeck & Foss and a summer intern for food safety at Gelato Fiasco. She lives in Yarmouth.

Julie Francis

Julie Francis has joined Gelato Fiasco as the office manager. She will be managing the office at Gelato Fiasco’s Flavor Foundry in Brunswick, provide sales coordination, and assist co-founder Joshua Davis with executive operations.

Francis was a sales account manager at State Farm for 10 years, and previously coordinated operations for the University of Southern Maine women’s basketball team. She graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a degree in business administration. She lives in Bowdoin.

Laurie Grinnan

Laurie Grinnan has joined Gelato Fiasco as the events coordinator and catering manager. She will be managing Gelato Fiasco’s full-service catering services for wedding receptions, parties, and business events in Maine and New England.

Grinnan was previously employed in a private banking and wealth management role at KeyBank, where responsibilities included planning events for Key Private Bank clients and employees. She holds a degree in accounting from the University of Maryland and studied at the university’s campus in Naples, Italy. She lives in Brunswick.

Additional hiring announcements are expected in March.
