Sweet Resurgam Gelato Launch

Sweet Resurgam GelatoThe Gelato Fiasco is releasing a special, limited-edition flavor celebrating the city of Portland and the our new store there. Sales of the flavor will also support a national grassroots job creation program.

Sweet Resurgam Gelato, named for Portland’s motto, which means, “I shall rise again,” is a burnt sugar almond gelato with swirls of salted caramel and chocolate chips. The flavor is reminiscent of the texture of Maine’s largest city, and is made with milk from Maine farms and locally harvested sea salt.

Test batches of this flavor have been selling out within hours of being created.

The flavor will be available in many grocery stores and in both Gelato Fiasco locations beginning on the first day of spring, March 20. (It will appear at some grocery stores later that week.)

The Gelato Fiasco will donate $1 from each pint created to Create Jobs for USA, a national program that supports the funding of low-interest loans to promising small businesses. Due to tight capital markets, small businesses – even those like The Gelato Fiasco with stable balance sheets – can have trouble finding capital. The Create Jobs for USA program, which was brainchild of the founder of Starbucks, seeks to make it possible for small businesses to create jobs again.

The Gelato Fiasco’s kitchen team created just 2,400 pints. Once those 2,400 pints are made, the flavor will be retired.
